The role
Byrne Wallace Shields LLP is one of Ireland’s largest full service law firms. We are a forward thinking law firm and are currently recruiting for an Assistant Librarian to join our firm in the Dublin office.
Key Responsibilities
Assists fee earners with legal research and queries
Supports with delivery of training programmes
Creation and development of library guides and support material
General library administration duties, including cataloguing of journals and books and reviewing hard copy and electronic material where appropriate
Supports development and review of library processes and procedures, including contributions to library pages of firm’s intranet
Maintenance and troubleshooting of library systems
Reviews, profiles and assists in the uploading of material to library systems
Information Security - Support implementation of the Firms Information Security Management and comply with the Firms Information Security Statement
Adhere to data classifications and handling rules
Report Breach of Policy, Incident or Security Weakness
Comply with the ISMS-04 User’s Information Security Policy Statements
Additional - Staff may be requested to carry out such reasonable tasks as may from time to time occur
Skills, experience and attributes
Post-graduate library qualification essential
An information professional with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience
Previous experience of legal library
The ability to undertake legal research unsupervised
Demonstrated interest in learning and development and library training, with strong design and delivery skills
Strong demonstrated interest and literacy in I.T.
Excellent written and communications skills
Ability to persuade and influence senior individuals
Ability to work to deadlines, manage multiple projects and deliver under pressure
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast paced, corporate environment
Ability to work on own initiativeHas an enthusiastic and can-do-attitude. Is motivated to continuous improvement and personal and professional development
