Job Description:
The Power Plant Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of gas reciprocating engine based power generation systems. This involves monitoring plant performance, conducting regular inspections, managing fuel supply logistics and coordinating with grid operators to optimize energy delivery.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Conducting thorough inspections of engines, generators and auxiliary systems to identify operational issues and implement corrective actions.
* Maintaining optimal plant performance by monitoring metrics such as efficiency, availability and reliability.
* Operating and controlling power plant equipment including Wärtsilä gas engines, generators and support systems.
* Managing fuel supply logistics to ensure adequate stock levels and maintain fuel quality standards.
* Coordinating with grid operators for power output scheduling, dispatch and load balancing.
* Recording operational data and reporting anomalies or deviations from standard operating conditions.
* Supporting maintenance activities and assisting in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults.
* Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.
* Operating Wärtsilä gas engines in accordance with OEM O&M manuals and interacting with customers and OEMs on technical and administrative matters.
* Managing planned shutdowns and unplanned breakdowns.
* Operating and maintaining GT Equipment and Balance of Plant BOP through regular equipment inspections and walkdowns.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Power Engineering.
* Prior experience with gas reciprocating engines, specifically Wärtsilä models, is mandatory.
* Familiarity with SCADA systems and plant automation tools is desirable.
* A strong understanding of power generation principles and grid operations is essential.
* Able to work flexible shifts and respond to emergencies.
