Senior Automation Systems Engineer
Join NNIT as a Senior Automation Systems Engineer. This is an onsite role based in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
Role Brief
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, commissioning, and support of automation and control systems. You will also handle the design, specification, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up assistance for these systems.
You must have strong experience working with Siemens and possess the technical expertise to maintain, develop, troubleshoot, and validate these systems in a compliant manner.
Skills Brief

5+ years experience working with Siemens PLC Systems
Proven knowledge and experience with SCADA, Control Systems, or Vision Systems (advantage)
Pack equipment systems, Cognex, and Serialization experience (advantage)
Strong exposure to automation systems integration, solution design, in life sciences or medical devices (essential)
Experience implementing and troubleshooting SQL database systems for real-time process data collection (advantage)
IT/Networking experience (advantage)
High-level language programming experience (advantage)

Candidate Profile
Candidates must have a B.Sc. Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with emphasis in software development, electrical, electronic, or automation disciplines, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in industry, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, blue-chip or relevant GMP manufacturing environment. Excellent communication, problem-solving, stakeholder, and vendor-management skills are expected.
Location & Eligibility
As this role is fully onsite in Athlone, the successful candidate must be based in or within a reasonable commute of this location. Only candidates with a valid work permit to work in Ireland can be considered due to project timelines.
