Clinical Nurse Specialist – Cardiology
Cpl Healthcare, in partnership with a leading private cardiology practice based in Galway, is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cardiology for a full-time, permanent position. The role will be based in a private hospital setting in Galway City.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cardiology nurse to join a highly specialised cardiac service with a strong focus on electrophysiology and arrhythmia management.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, full-time hours with flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Management
1. Coordinate and manage cardiology clinics, including screening referrals and arranging appropriate diagnostic tests.
2. Attend clinics and provide specialist nursing support.
3. Communicate with patients regarding appointments, investigations, and results.
4. Respond to patient queries and provide ongoing support.
5. Review outgoing clinical correspondence to ensure accuracy of letters and reports.
Procedure List Management
6. Coordinate the booking and scheduling of procedure lists including cardiac ablations and cardiac device procedures.
7. Communicate with patients in advance of procedures, providing information and support.
8. Assist in the management and clinical support of procedure lists.
9. Conduct post-procedure assessments and support patient discharge.
10. Provide post-procedure follow-up and respond to patient queries.
11. Review outgoing clinical communications for accuracy.
Consultation Support
12. Act as a point of contact for inpatient arrhythmia consultations.
13. Serve as a liaison for GP referrals relating to arrhythmia patients.
Clinical Responsibilities
14. Provide specialist advice, education, and support to patients and their families before and after hospital discharge.
15. Assist with patient pre-assessment and contribute to the development and delivery of specialist clinics where appropriate.
16. Develop and provide patient education materials and resources.
17. Deliver post-discharge patient education and support.
18. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic and manual systems.
19. Promote high standards of patient care and clinical governance.
20. Ensure effective communication between patients, GPs, carers, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
21. Support the development, implementation, and audit of clinical standards of care.
Candidate Requirements
22. Registered General Nurse with active registration.
23. Significant clinical experience in cardiology, ideally with electrophysiology or arrhythmia exposure.
24. Master's degree in Cardiology Nursing or a related field (or working towards).
25. Candidates working towards or who have completed Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) registration will be considered for a senior appointment at this grade.
26. Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical leadership skills.
