The Ground Engineering team in Ireland includes geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, hydrogeologists, and geoenvironmental specialists, supported by global expertise. The team delivers innovative ground engineering solutions for projects in Ireland and internationally, emphasizing technical excellence, creative thinking, and a focus on long-term client objectives.
Responsibilities
* Lead geotechnical design for projects across sectors in Ireland and overseas, ensuring delivery within budget and timeframes.
* Manage, direct, and develop junior staff; liaise with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
* Provide strong technical input in geotechnical design, construction, and ground investigations, with advisory services to public and private sector clients.
* Potential involvement in project management of geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects.
* Contribute to the development of junior colleagues and promote a culture of technical excellence within the Ground Engineering team.
* Engage in ongoing development of geotechnical skillsets and processes across the team.
* Role location: Dublin, Cork, Galway, or Limerick offices.
Qualifications
* Degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics, or equivalent is an advantage.
* Ideally working towards Chartered status with a professional engineering organization.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical role in geotechnical design and/or construction (more experience considered for senior grades).
* Strong technical understanding of deep excavations, deep/shallow foundations, earthworks, slope stability, and soft ground solutions.
* Experience in planning, managing, supervising, and interpreting geotechnical investigations.
* Good planning, organizational and time-management skills; ability to work across multiple projects.
* Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences; effective written report writing.
* Awareness or experience with 3D modelling, GIS, scripting, or automation as applied to geotechnics is an advantage.
* Awareness or experience of contaminated land, waste, and reuse of earthworks materials is an advantage.
* Flexibility to travel and a full driver's licence is an advantage.
