Toolmaker (2-Cycle Shift)

We are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing, US-owned medical device manufacturer that has recently completed a major expansion of its Irish plant and is continuing to invest heavily in new lines and headcount.
Key Requirements
* Fully qualified Toolmaker (time-served apprenticeship completed)
* Proven experience building, repairing and maintaining high-cavity injection moulds in a regulated, high-volume environment
* Strong hands-on skills: milling, turning, surface grinding, EDM (spark erosion), bench fitting and welding
* Solid track record in preventative mould maintenance and supporting 24/7 production
* Experience with multi-cavity, hot-runner and valve-gated systems highly advantageous
* Good working knowledge of the injection-moulding process and ability to troubleshoot mould-related issues with Process Engineering
* Medical / tight-tolerance / cleanroom experience is a distinct advantage
* Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and ancillary equipment is a plus
* Comfortable liaising with external tool rooms, suppliers and OEMs
* Familiarity with ISO 13485 / ISO 9001 documentation and audit requirements
Main Responsibilities
* Day-to-day maintenance, repair and optimisation of all injection moulds
* Creation and upkeep of mould history files and standard repair procedures
* Design, manufacture and repair of jigs, fixtures and ancillary tooling
* Support new mould trials and process development
* Drive continuous improvement projects within the toolroom
* Train and mentor apprentices and operators on mould care best practice
* Ensure full compliance with quality, safety and regulatory standards
