EPIC IP in Ireland is engaged in Fund Management and Fund Services. It has third party Management Company permissions for UCAITS and AIFs, as well as Fund Administration permissions.
Role Overview
The Designated Person for Investment Management Oversight is responsible for monitoring, overseeing, and challenging delegated portfolio management activities performed by the investment manager. This role ensures EPIC IP meets regulatory obligations, protects investor interests, and maintains robust governance over delegated investment activities.
This is a PCF role with regulatory accountability to the Central Bank of Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Oversight of Delegated Investment Management
Monitor and challenge the delegated investment manager’s adherence to the investment strategy, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure investment decisions are consistent with fund documentation, investment limits, and risk appetite.
Review and approve investment guidelines, limits, and any material changes proposed by the investment manager.
Conduct initial and ongoing due diligence of delegated investment managers.
Review performance, risk reporting, and valuation processes.
Ensure compliance with borrowing, leverage, and concentration limits.
Governance & Reporting
Prepare reports for the Board and Fund Risk Committee on investment oversight, compliance, and performance.
Attend investment committee meetings where appropriate.
Escalate material issues to the Board, CEO, or CRO.
Collaborate with the Designated Person for Fund Risk to ensure alignment between investment activity and fund risk framework.
Ensure that investment decisions respect liquidity, concentration, and credit risk policies.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure the fund meets all regulatory obligations, including delegation oversight requirements.
Support audits and inspections by the Central Bank of Ireland.
Maintain robust documentation of all oversight activities.
Work with administrators, depositaries, and auditors on investment oversight matters.
Provide input into investor queries regarding investment management policies and processes.
Designated Person for Investment Management
Perform regular calls with the delegated portfolio managers, review monthly reporting and present to the Company’s Board of Directors and Fund Boards on results.
Monitor the performance of the delegated portfolio managers ensuring issues are escalated to the Board and resolved in a timely manner.
Assist in the due diligence in the appointment and periodic reviews of the delegate Investment Manager.
Responsible for oversight of the investment risk for each Fund under management, this includes ensuring the due diligence methodology performed on investments is aligned with each Funds strategy, each Funds composition is in accordance with the Fund’s strategy, regulatory regulations, risk limits and adherence to SFDR pre-contractual disclosures.
Evidencing reviews through thorough written reports recording action items and timeliness to completion.
Monitor the regulatory reporting relating to the Funds under management including EMIR reporting, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Work with the Designated Persons in the provision of timely escalations and reporting, ensuring clear lines of communication are in place.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and exercise practices for overall governance.
Skills and experience, including qualifications
8+ years’ experience gained in a regulated environment, ideally from within an investment funds setting (fund administration, fund management).
Solid understanding of investments and financial instruments.
Previous appointment to a related pre-approved control (PCF) function will be considered an asset to satisfy the Central Bank of Ireland’s requirements.
Proven track record interacting and reporting to both senior management teams and Fund Boards.
Ability to challenge investment managers effectively and provide independent oversight.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills, capable of reporting complex issues to boards and senior management.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to operate in a fast-moving, regulated environment.
