Our client, a leading electricity infrastructure company in Ireland, is seeking an experienced Senior Team Lead – Substation to join their Engineering and Major Projects team on a 12-month contract basis.The successful candidate will lead a substation design team responsible for the delivery of high voltage transmission and distribution infrastructure projects. This role combines technical leadership, team management and project delivery across a diverse portfolio of substation projects, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and performance are achieved.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a substation design team delivering high-quality designs and safety coordination across a portfolio of transmission and distribution projectsOversee design delivery across internal teams and external delivery models including EPC and Design & Build frameworksAct as Lead Engineer across a portfolio of projects, providing technical leadership from concept through to commissioningManage project coordination with external framework designers and delivery partnersDevelop and maintain standardised substation design templates and engineering librariesDrive continuous improvement and standardisation of engineering processes, incorporating lessons learned from project reviewsProvide technical guidance across all project phases including scoping, costing, design, construction, testing and inspectionManage team resourcing, forecasting, work integration and quality assurance of deliverablesLead stakeholder engagement across internal teams, project delivery functions and external partnersProvide mentoring, training and development support to engineering team membersEnsure delivery of projects in line with safety, quality and time and cost objectivesApprove key technical outputs and manage specialist workstreamsRequirementsMinimum 7 years’ experience in substation design within transmission or distribution environmentsStrong understanding of substation project lifecycle including design, tendering, construction and commissioningProven leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex infrastructure projectsStrong commercial and project management capabilityAbility to manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight deadlinesExcellent communication, stakeholder management and report writing skillsDemonstrated experience mentoring and developing technical teamsStrong focus on safety, quality and delivery performanceThird level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experienceKnowledge of PSDP processesExperience in pre-commissioning activitiesExperience working within large-scale utility or infrastructure environments12-month contractHybrid working model (minimum 2 days onsite in Cork)Opportunity to lead high-performing engineering teamsWork on critical national transmission and distribution infrastructure projects
