This is a unique opportunity to work on an industry-led research project combining cutting-edge academic insight with real-world engineering application. The project will focus on developing innovative automation solutions using robotics, machine vision, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), aiming to enhance manufacturing processes in HVAC systems.This position is co-funded by Research Ireland (through I-Form) and Trane Technologies and is available from the 11th of March 2026 to the contract end date of 28th of February 2027, or longer if accepted as a part-time position. The supervisor team also welcome applicants interested in part-time PhD studies in parallel to this role.The I-Form missionThe successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of industry-ready automated brazing methods and related testing guidelines based on critical process parameters.Salary: Research Assistant salary scale €33,291 - €43,372 per annum, (subject to the project's funding limitations, candidate experience), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.Employment permit restrictions may apply for this category of post (if part-time).Closing date for receipt of applications is 17:00 (Irish Time) on 9th February 2026.
