If you like to troubleshoot hardware, solve complex problems and make equipment work better, this is the role for you.
We train our Field Service Engineers to create and support the technology that the world relies on to manufacture semiconductor chips and related materials every day. You’ll work beside our customers to install, maintain, and upgrade their Applied Materials equipment, delivering world-class support for highly advanced production systems.
You will:
1. Be involved with installing leading-edge customer equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance, and upgrading equipment.
2. Proactively take ownership of technical issues.
3. Complete required job documentation, safety training, and procedures for processing parts.
4. Professionally represent Applied Materials to the customer, using your “customer first” mindset.
5. Satisfy the company’s and customer’s on-site requirements, including safety and environmental guidelines.
You’ll need:
1. Qualification from disciplines including Mechanical / Mechatronic / Electrical / Electronic Engineering / Science / Aircraft Systems or a Trade Apprenticeship.
2. An ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
3. Clear and effective written/verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
4. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
5. A mechanical aptitude and knowledge in the following: pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics.
6. Knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
Nice to have:
1. At least 2 years of work experience in customer/field support/maintenance role.
What to expect:
1. You may be on rotation and in shifts (days and nights) so that customers have ongoing support.
2. You may be asked to travel for training (in some cases for up to 3 months) or to customer sites across the globe.
3. Your job requires the ability to work in a clean room environment wearing coveralls, hood, booties, safety glasses, and gloves.
