The Enterprise Architect plays a key role in shaping the long-term technology direction of the organisation. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise architecture frameworks, future-state designs, and guiding principles across core areas such as applications, data, integration, infrastructure, and security.Working closely with senior leaders and delivery teams, the Enterprise Architect ensures that technology initiatives are aligned with strategic priorities, delivered in a consistent manner, and contribute to a sustainable and resilient architecture landscape.The role provides oversight across major transformation programmes, helping the organisation progress from current-state environments toward a modern, standardised target architecture.Core ResponsibilitiesDefine and maintain enterprise-wide architecture standards, principles, and reference models.Provide architectural governance and contribute to decision-making forums for major solution designs.Ensure that large-scale change programmes remain aligned with agreed architectural direction.Support the development of technology roadmaps that reflect business goals and future capability needs.Develop high-level architectures covering application platforms, integration approaches, data structures, infrastructure, and security controls.Promote consistent use of reusable patterns, scalable integration methods, and best practice design approaches.Ensure solutions meet operational resilience, security, and compliance expectations.Review existing environments to identify simplification opportunities, technical risk, and areas for modernisation.Stakeholder Engagement & LeadershipBuild strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders to drive shared architectural understanding.Provide guidance and mentorship to Solution Architects and delivery teams.Communicate architectural concepts clearly to both technical specialists and non-technical audiences.Encourage continuous improvement and collaboration across the wider architecture function.Contribute to the assessment and selection of technology platforms and enterprise standards.Drive enhancements to architecture governance processes, documentation, and ways of working.Maintain clear and accessible architectural artefacts aligned with organisational priorities.Required ExperienceExtensive experience in IT, with significant time spent in architecture-focused roles.Strong track record of delivering enterprise architecture within complex organisational environments.Knowledge of hybrid technology landscapes and integration with cloud-based SaaS platforms.Familiarity with cloud services and architecture modelling approaches is beneficial.Experience in highly governed or regulated sectors is an advantage.QualificationsDegree-level education in an IT-related discipline or equivalent professional background.Enterprise architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF or similar) preferred.Relevant technical certifications are a plus.Key SkillsStrong strategic and analytical mindset.Ability to influence and lead across multiple teams without direct authority.Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.Ownership-driven, structured, and delivery-focused approach.
