Overview
Associate Director, Agile Sourcing, Contract Lead Global Products, Development & Supply (GPS)
Working with Bristol Myers Squibb UK & Ireland, the Procurement Contract Lead, Associate Director, Agile Sourcing will lead a team that delivers an industry-leading contracting capability to support GPS through efficient contract review, issue identification and analysis, redlining, negotiation and management of escalations to the legal department. This role requires collaboration across GPS functions and cross-functional stakeholders including Legal, Process Owners, and other business units.
Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the GPS Agile Sourcing team in support of contracting operations across multiple categories.
* Monitor performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement to implement contracting strategy.
* Assist in creating training materials leveraging knowledge of contract terms, negotiation best practices, and BMS Standard Operating Procedures.
* Set clear performance expectations and provide proactive feedback; act as a hands-on manager with close leadership and support to the team.
* Drive and manage end-to-end contracting processes with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple markets; perform due diligence, assess risk, and mitigate options.
* Coordinate and perform contract analysis to identify key legal terms and obtain SME input as required.
* Negotiate business/commercial terms to advance BMS interests and goals; explain contractual terms and risks to internal stakeholders to support decision-making.
* Manage multiple, complex projects independently while ensuring compliance with written guidelines and company policy.
* Maintain awareness of pre-contracting steps and BMS policies related to contracts and contracted activities.
* Drive and manage end-to-end contracting processes and collaborate with adjacent stakeholders on complex, high-risk issues.
* Act as a trusted advisor to GPS category managers and site contacts; facilitate complex contract negotiations with business, legal, and other stakeholders.
* Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely, compliant, and efficient contract facilitation; identify escalation points for policy questions.
* Support performance management and continuous improvement for source-to-contract activities.
* Develop and maintain contracting guidance documents; participate in training initiatives to expand contracting capabilities.
* Explore new contracting processes and technologies, including AI/ML opportunities to enhance contracting productivity and agility.
Qualifications & Experience
* Legal training/qualifications/experience (e.g., LLB or JD) is preferred.
* Experience in procurement, sourcing and contracting, including drafting, redlining, reviewing and negotiating procurement/business contracts; familiarity with Master Services Agreements in international markets.
* Experience leading a cross-functional contracting team and working within a matrix organization.
* Experience contracting in global/international markets with awareness of local nuances.
* Direct people management experience with growth mindset, mentoring and coaching capabilities.
* Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management technology (e.g., Icertis) to automate and streamline processes.
Expertise & Competencies
* Expertise in contract construction and negotiation for buy-side and in-scope contracts in pharma/biotech.
* Excellent written and spoken communication and diplomacy to influence others and maintain a strong customer focus.
* Ability to adapt in ambiguous, complex environments; capable of leading and inspiring teams to sustain high performance.
* Strong management and leadership skills with a track record of delivering projects through cross-functional teams.
