Job Description:

Our client,

a leading utility company with a significant presence in the energy sector, is seeking a Resident Civil Engineer to join their team in Wexford.

We are looking for highly motivated and experienced Senior Civil Engineers to fulfill the role of Site Manager / Site Resident Civil Engineer for the delivery of onshore renewable solar projects in Ireland. The successful candidates will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of solar construction sites in Ireland, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, environmental compliance, and contractual adherence. There will be positions on two separate project sites, with one role per site.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage, monitor, and supervise all on-site activities of contractors for solar renewable projects during enabling works, main construction, and commissioning.
* Administer contracts with main contractors, including discharging delegated responsibilities.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially considering solar site construction challenges.
* Act as the primary point of contact for the ESB project team on site.
* Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports for the project team and senior management.
* Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders for seamless project execution.
* Conduct Quality Assurance reviews, audits, and checks of civil works throughout construction.
* Resolve issues or conflicts on-site promptly and effectively.
* Maintain accurate records of site activities, including logs, inspections, and incident reports.
* Support assessment and resolution of contractor claims and commercial risks.


Requirements

* Minimum 10 years’ experience in civil engineering, including construction site management for energy infrastructure projects.
* Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent.
* Strong knowledge of FIDIC Contracts and contract administration.
* Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders, authorities, and relevant parties.
* Proven ability to deliver solutions in a commercially driven environment.
* Ability to assess, communicate, and manage project risks.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report writing skills.
* Full driver’s license and access to a car.


Desirable

* Previous role as Site Manager in energy infrastructure projects.
* Experience as PSCS on construction projects.
* Chartered status with a recognized professional institution.
* Project Management qualification.
