Amazon Web Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer to become part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint.

As an engineer within our team, you will spend a regular part of your time analyzing and improving every aspect of our value stream. Our Engineers design resilient, cost effective electrical distribution systems to achieve world-class uptime for our customers. You will drive technical decisions, justify them to Sr. Management, and work to continuously advance and improve our designs.
You will work on multi-million dollar designs supporting our diverse businesses and customer base. Ingenuity is encouraged to support quality, speed, and cost goals. You will take designs from concept to permit and construction document sets, define critical equipment specifications, and approve equipment submittals to indirectly support construction and turnover. You will be a subject matter expert in electrical engineering and will have opportunities for continued learning and career development. Travel: 25% of the time, including international travel as needed.
What you will be doing
* Data center electrical designs and collaboration with other disciplines to create a construction document set.
* Participating in site selection reviews and site planning activities.
* Design of critical data center equipment including Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, MV/LV Switchgear, MV:LV Transformers, Earthing, Life Safety and Fire Detection systems.
* Collaborating with other disciplines to create construction document sets and ensuring design quality within budget.
* Working with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment.
* Interacting with local utilities to define site utility requirements and with authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with IEC, EU requirements and building codes.
* Reviewing and approving equipment submittals; defining project scope and providing technical support during construction.
* Coordinating with commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
* Managing concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions and supporting site reviews with onsite field engineers.
* Providing engineering evaluations and startup support as needed, and acting as a leader within the global group and collaborating teams.

The team consists of Electrical Engineers with Design Engineering backgrounds, including professionals with practical experience in the systems they design. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, including data centers and supporting power, cooling, and related systems.

Basic Qualifications
* Degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of experience in power systems and mission critical electrical design.
* Strong understanding of European Electrical Codes and knowledge of critical LV, MV, and HV equipment.
* Experience with relays, protection schemes, high-voltage circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers, switchgear, grounding and earthing; ability to research new designs and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
* Ability to advance design concepts from exploration through deployment, and perform complex business case analyses to justify technical decisions and present them to management.
Preferred Qualifications
* Chartered Engineer with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and experience related to data center or mission-critical facility design.
* Experience in consultant negotiations and management for fast-track design/build projects and/or multiple upgrade projects.
* Extensive knowledge of building codes and regulations; ability to develop creative, cost-reducing solutions without compromising quality, reliability, or maintainability.
* Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a reliable, proactive approach.
