Senior Dietitian An opportunity has arisen to join our Dietetics?team, as a Senior Dietitian. This is a permanent position for 17.5 hours per week. Purpose of Post: To provide a Dietetic and nutrition service to patients, deliver care within the multidisciplinary team approach, exert influence as a Dietetic and Nutrition advisor. Clinical Responsibilities You will provide autonomous and comprehensive patient care. This includes independently assessing patients, creating and adjusting treatment plans, and using your professional judgment to make critical decisions. Manage the entire patient care cycle. You'll take charge of each patient from the initial referral and nutrition assessment through to developing and documenting their treatment plan and goals. Actively monitor patient progress. This involves regularly assessing how patients are responding to their treatment plans during follow-up visits. Lead in patient and staff education. You'll provide essential nutrition education to patients, either one-on-one or in group sessions. You'll also serve as a resource for other medical staff, liaising with them to ensure coordinated care. Uphold professional standards. This means consistently engaging in reflective practice, seeking feedback to improve, and maintaining detailed, accurate patient records in line with hospital policies. Departmental and Leadership Responsibilities Drive departmental growth and innovation. You'll develop, lead, and report on project proposals and new programs as requested by the Dietitian Manager. This includes creating and evaluating innovative educational resources for both patients and staff. Act as a mentor and leader. You'll provide guidance, leadership, and mentorship to junior dietitians and participate in clinical supervision and coaching to help colleagues develop professionally. Contribute to policy and quality improvement. You will participate in reviewing and updating departmental policies and procedures, collect and maintain statistical data, and attend meetings to ensure the department operates at the highest standard. Commit to continuous professional development (CPD). You will stay current with the latest professional practices by attending courses, seminars, and reading research. You'll also maintain a record of your ongoing development. Support the future of the profession. Take a lead role in developing the hospital as a key training site for undergraduate and postgraduate dietetics students. Professional qualifications, essential skills & knowledge: ?BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from University of Dublin or equivalent. ?Minimum 3 years post graduate experience. ?CORU registered. Sensitivity to patient needs. ?Ability to work independently Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to help in developing?departmental policy and procedure Job Descriptions available on request.?
