Assistant Accountant
About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our clients finance team within the service sector in Tullamore Offaly.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations while contributing to the company’s ongoing growth and efficiency. You will play a key role in financial management, reporting, and working closely with Financial Controller, management team and other departments.
Hours of work 9-5pm onsite.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
* Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly management accounts.
* Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and ensure timely reconciliations of bank and supplier accounts.
* Prepare journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments.
* Support the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors.
* Maintain compliance with tax regulations and internal financial policies.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous process improvement.
* Manage relationships with vendors, banks, and other external partners.
* Collaborate with HR on payroll processing and employee-related financial matters.
Key Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Accounting Technician
* 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the service sector or fast paced environment.
* Strong working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., Sage or similar).
* Proficiency in MS Excel.
* Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
