Role Summary
As an Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will be a key member of the team responsible for the day-to-day stability, scalability, and security of our high-availability environments. You'll work across Linux (mainly) and Windows systems, on-premises but mainly in the cloud, supporting the platforms that enable thousands of businesses to accept payments online. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering reliable infrastructure operations and continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure that supports multiple Global Payments platforms.
* Perform system administration and troubleshooting for Linux and Windows environments.
* Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
* Carry out patching, lifecycle management, and routine maintenance tasks.
* Execute changes, upgrades, and deployments with a focus on stability and compliance.
* Collaborate with Platform Engineering to test and adopt new technologies.
* Follow operational processes (Change, Incident, Problem, and Service Management).
* Participate in an on-call rota to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.
* Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, operational handovers and process improvements.
*Required Skills & Experience*
* Strong experience in Linux system administration (Windows exposure a plus).
* Practical experience supporting infrastructure in production environments (GCP/AWS/Azure)
* Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
* Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with patching, lifecycle management, and monitoring.
*Preferred Skills & Technologies*
* Scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
* Cloud platforms: GCP, Azure, AWS.
* Containers: Kubernetes, Docker.
* CI/CD exposure: Git, Jenkins.
* Experience working in regulated or PCI-compliant environments.
* Understanding of ITIL processes and service management.
