Overview
RNID - Children’s Services & Home Support, Dunmanway, Ref C090 — CoAction West Cork. 32 hour per week permanent contract. Closing date: Friday 31st October 2025. This role involves providing a nursing service to Dunmanway and working as part of the West Cork Child Development Service, serving as a keyworker and offering clinical leadership for medical care in the home and community setting.
Reporting to: The Children’s Services Coordinator / Nurse Co-ordinator. Location: Dunmanway, CoAction West Cork.
Responsibilities
1. Professional Responsibilities: practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct (Nursing Board) and relevant clinical guidelines; comply with HSE guidelines, policies, and CoAction policies; maintain competence; uphold professional behaviour and confidentiality; commute to children’s homes to administer care.
2. Clinical Practice: deliver nursing care to clients in line with best practice; manage a caseload; promote health and wellbeing; collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team; assess, plan, implement and evaluate person-centred care; maintain records in accordance with guidelines; participate in infection control, discharge planning and community links; provide education and advocacy.
3. Health & Safety: develop policies for safe storage/administration of medicines; participate in risk management and health & safety initiatives; comply with infection control and lone-working policies.
4. Education, Training & Development: stay updated on nursing practice; contribute to induction and training; identify training needs; support junior colleagues; participate in performance reviews.
5. Administration: safeguard and manage records; submit activity data and reports; contribute to policy development and budgeting; maintain confidentiality; support information sharing, referrals, care plans and audits; monitor and evaluate the service; handle complaints per policy.
6. Eligibility & Compliance: mandatory nursing registration in An Bord Altranais or eligible for registration; meet health, character and travel requirements; full driving licence required for travel.
Qualifications & Skills
* Registered nurse with current registration in the relevant division (An Bord Altranais) or eligible to register per Directive 2006/100/EC.
* Ability to deliver care in a community/home setting and work within a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong clinical knowledge, evidence-based practice, and effective communication skills.
* Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, families and staff; leadership and teamwork capabilities; problem solving and change management aptitude.
* Awareness of health strategies, HIQA regulations, IT literacy and willingness to develop IT skills relevant to the role.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
* Disability studies or related qualification; training related to disability support or service delivery.
* Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Disability studies or equivalent; nonverbal communication awareness; computer literacy.
* Ability to build relationships, person-centred approach, and a positive, adaptable attitude.
Remuneration & Benefits
* Remuneration per CoAction 2024 salary scale for Intellectual Disabilities Nurse: €34,493 – €50,363 FTE, dependent on experience. Subject to increase in 2025 per WRC agreement for Section 39 organisations.
