Job Opportunity: Senior Localization Engineer
About the Role:
As a seasoned professional in localization engineering, you will play a pivotal role in supporting project managers by assisting in preparing files for translation, automating processes and developing tools and scripts for production and external clients.
This position requires an individual who can manage the translation and localization lifecycle using CAT tools and associated resources for the Language Services group. You will join a team of experienced localization engineers who take responsibility for the management of the Computer Aided Translation (CAT) tool and associated resources.
Your key responsibilities will include providing engineering support to colleagues in production, investigating new file types, creating filters and workflows, improving localisation engineering processes, serving as a product owner for our CAT tool, liaising with the tool's provider, flagging issues and requesting new features, identifying areas for automation, creating macros and scripts to automate processes, mentoring junior engineers, actively participating in strategic initiatives and providing expert support to deliver such projects, and acting as a subject matter expert for external and internal clients when required.
The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of experience in the Language Services industry working with Computer Aided Translation (CAT) tools, such as MemoQ, XTM, Trados etc., with project management experience being a plus. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Visual Basic, Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.) is essential, along with knowledge of APIs and integrations. Regular expressions and manipulating text are also crucial skills for this role. Experience with localising webapps and software and supporting translation projects is highly valued, as well as knowledge of markup languages (XML, HTML, XLIFF, etc.).
