Overview
Western Care is seeking to grow and support its team across County Mayo. The successful applicants will deliver on the vision for the people they are supporting, working directly with adults to help them gain valued social roles and participate in meaningful activities. You will advocate for individuals and support the development of Individual Plans.
Responsibilities
* Deliver on the vision for people supported and help them participate in meaningful activities
* Advocate on behalf of individuals regarding needs, preferences, rights and dreams
* Support development of Individual Plans
* Participate in local service planning and respond to evolving service needs
* Provide personal care and support to service users where required
* Promote safety and adhere to the organisation's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirements
* Support people who may have challenging behaviour using positive approaches
Candidate Requirements
* Experience in a person- and family-centered manner
* Experience in autism-informed / neurodiverse approaches
* Experience in supporting people with high and/or complex needs
* Drive, enthusiasm and passion for person-centered solutions
* Ability to develop meaningful community links
* Ability to listen and advocate for individuals’ needs, rights and preferences
* Commitment to the ethos of the services
* Creative problem-solving and flexibility to respond to service demands
* Knowledge of New Directions Standards and Person-Centred Planning
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with individuals, families and other disciplines
* Self-motivation and good time management
* Flexibility to meet service demands
* Competent IT skills are preferred
Other Duties
* Contribute to local service planning and ongoing service development
* Provide personal care and support as required
* Maintain a safe work environment in line with policies and health & safety requirements
* Promote safety in all environments
* Use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behaviour
Qualification Details
An appropriate 3rd level qualification in Social Care, or equivalent (minimum level 7). Please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration.
Other Requirements
* Full driver’s license is essential
* All applicants will be subject to Garda Vetting and reference checks
* All applicants from countries outside the E.U. must provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in the Republic of Ireland
* Overseas Police Clearance may be required if living outside Ireland or Northern Ireland for more than 6 months since age 18
Salary Scale
Social Care Worker Pay Scale (Scale Range €34,969 – €52,619 per annum). This is based on full-time hours (39 per week).
