Job Summary
Toptal is looking for a senior‑level Business Analyst to provide business leaders with crucial insights and recommendations for improvement. This role is a key member of the Customer and Talent Analytics team. You will support leaders across our Customer and Talent functions, with an initial focus on Talent Operations and its largest strategic initiatives. You will use data, create and define metrics, measure performance, develop reports, build models, forecast outcomes, run experiments, and perform in‑depth diagnostic analysis.
Responsibilities
 * Analyze data, build models, test hypotheses, find root causes, develop prototypes, forecast performance, create Tableau reports, write SQL scripts, and extract insights to inform business decisions.
 * Utilize financial analysis skills to assess and make recommendations that drive profitable business decisions.
 * Use descriptive and diagnostic analytics to develop actionable recommendations for business leaders.
 * Define metrics that are independent, holistic, accurate, and aligned with company strategy and objectives.
 * Map business processes to their corresponding data flows.
 * Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, conversion, revenue generation, client and talent experience, operations, communication, systems & tools, and cash usage.
 * Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, report developers, and business process owners to empower data‑backed decision making.
 * Develop strategy for the full client and talent lifecycle, including modeling acquisition funnels, building segmentation models, analyzing retention drivers, and identifying cross‑functional process improvements.
First‑Month Roadmap
Onboarding and integration into Toptal, learning company history, culture, and vision; shadowing key teams in Growth, Talent Operations, Enterprise, and SMB.
First‑Quarter Milestones
 * Deepen understanding of data generated through company operations and its storage.
 * Assess current metrics, reports, dashboards, models, and analyses.
 * Begin supporting function leaders with insights and reports for bi‑weekly meetings.
 * Identify new opportunities to improve performance continuously and exercise independent judgment.
Qualifications
 * Bachelor’s degree required.
 * 5+ years of experience in data analysis, analytics, or business intelligence.
 * 2+ years in consulting or analytical operations.
 * Strong background in math, science, finance, engineering, or statistics; advanced degrees and/or MBA a plus.
 * Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, etc.).
 * Proficiency in SQL; experience with R, Python, or MATLAB a plus.
 * Proven track record linking data and analytics to business strategy, financial performance, and operations.
 * Experience developing analytical frameworks for strategic business problems.
 * Working knowledge of probability and statistics; process improvement experience a plus.
 * Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex issues simply.
 * Ability to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly growing company and handle a variety of challenges.
