Role Overview
We are seeking a
Principal Project Manager – Highways & Active Travel
to join our clients Sustainable Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a
minimum of 12 years' experience
in highways, greenway, or related infrastructure projects, looking to work on a diverse portfolio of projects and progress their career toward senior leadership positions.
The successful candidate will be involved in
national roads, greenway, active travel, and major highways design and build schemes
, delivering high-quality projects across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead
multi-disciplinary design teams
, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
* Mentor and supervise
senior and junior staff
, fostering professional development.
* Prepare
technical reports, tender documents, and project proposals
.
* Plan and manage
design work
, collaborating closely with Engineering Discipline Leads and Technicians.
* Ensure compliance with
quality assurance, management systems, and health & safety legislation
.
* Coordinate with other members of the project team and Sustainable Infrastructure colleagues.
* Manage
client relationships and project communications
, representing the team professionally at all times.
Candidate Profile
* Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
with
Chartered Engineer status
.
* Minimum of
12 years post-graduate experience
in highways, greenway, or infrastructure design and project management in Ireland.
* Experience delivering projects in line with
TII Project Management Guidelines (Phases 0–7)
.
* Proven track record with
design and build projects
and
multi-disciplinary team management
.
* Strong experience in
client engagement
, managing subconsultants, and stakeholder liaison.
* Skilled in
budget creation and management
.
* High-energy professional with excellent
communication, organisational, and analytical skills
.
* Flexible, proactive, and a strong team player, able to work independently when required.
* Willingness to
travel for site visits and client meetings
.
* Must hold a
full, clean driving licence
.
