Property Technical Claims Handler
Zurich Insurance Europe AG, Ireland Branch is looking for an experienced Property Claims Technical Expert to join our GI Claims team. This role will encompass a combination of technical property claims handling in addition to supporting the wider Property Claims team with technical development and upskilling. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of technical property claims to ensure the appropriate claims strategy is deployed and will act as a technical referral point to ensure provision of excellent claims service across the Property claims portfolio.
This role will assist with enhancing technical expertise across the Property claims team and will complete regular reviews of portfolios and KPI’s to identify improvement actions. Experience in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or construction is considered an advantage. Reporting to the Property Technical Team Lead, the successful applicant will work closely with underwriting, finance and sales & distribution to ensure all areas of the business are managed according to the Zurich Way of Claims.

Your Role
Investigate, negotiate, regulate, and settle technical property claims in a customer‑centric manner whilst supporting Zurich Basics. Provide technical guidance and support to the Property Claims team with a focus on upskilling and capability development.
Responsibilities
* Proactively manage a portfolio of cases to achieve settlement within designated authority level.
* Handle and resolve enquiries from customers and internal/external contacts to ensure focused claims service within own authority limits in accordance with reserving philosophy.
* Collaborate closely with Zurich’s Loss Adjuster Partners.
* Interpret information to assess loss value, scope of work, fraud indicators and recovery opportunities.
* Manage complex referrals and ensure accurate data entry for audit trail.
* Conduct desk‑top and external investigations including physical investigations where necessary.
* Oversee case strategies by providing direction, technical guidance and reporting on key metrics.
Team Development
* Provide technical guidance to the Property Claims team and stakeholders, collaborating to deliver training and coaching opportunities.
* Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies and streamline processes.
Customer
* Determine exposure and financial impact of decisions on customer relationships – ensuring reserves are correctly assessed and liability decisions communicated.
* Manage key relationships, ensuring stakeholders are informed on file updates.
* Support service level agreements with vendors.
* Contribute to customer satisfaction by building relationships and resolving quality problems.
Your Skills and Experience
* 5+ years industry experience in property claims, with preference for QS, engineering or construction.
* Loss adjusting or complex claim handling experience.
* Working towards or holding relevant professional qualifications (CIP, MDI, ACII, C Dip LA).
* Excellent technical Property Claims knowledge, including construction, engineering, quantity surveying.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience engaging suppliers and external vendors.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
* Team player with ability to build relationships internally and externally.

Additional Information
Primary work location: Ireland (Dublin). Occasional travel to other Zurich locations may be required.
