ATG are seeking an experienced Principal Risk Consultant to join a Risk & Safety team in Ireland. This is a senior-level role, responsible for leading projects and providing expert guidance in COMAH compliance, HAZOP studies, and wider process safety management across high-hazard industries. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering high-quality risk consultancy services, shaping best practice, and mentoring junior consultants.
Key Responsibilities
 * Lead and deliver COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) regulatory compliance projects, including safety report preparation and updates.
 * Facilitate and lead HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other process safety reviews, ensuring robust identification and assessment of risks.
 * Advise clients on major accident hazard management, safety cases, and risk assessment methodologies.
 * Provide strategic consulting on process safety management systems (PSMS) and compliance with Irish and EU regulatory requirements.
 * Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a technical authority in process risk consultancy.
 * Manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring deliverables are completed to scope, time, and budget.
 * Mentor and support junior consultants, sharing technical expertise and fostering career development.
 * Contribute to business development by preparing proposals, attending client meetings, and supporting thought leadership initiatives.
Key Requirements
 * Degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, or a related discipline.
 * Significant consultancy and/or industrial experience in high-hazard industries (chemicals, energy, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
 * Proven expertise in COMAH compliance projects and preparation of safety reports.
 * Extensive experience in leading and facilitating HAZOP studies (HAZID, LOPA experience desirable).
 * Strong knowledge of EU Seveso III Directive and Irish Health & Safety Authority (HSA) requirements.
 * Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent professional accreditation) preferred.
 * Excellent leadership, communication, and client engagement skills.
 * Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
