Health & Safety Manager (Western Region)

Responsibilities of the role include;
Lead the strategic direction of H&S across the company, ensuring alignment with OCC's operational goals, legal obligations and industry best practices.
Maintain hands-on oversight of safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations to drive compliance, accountability, and operational excellence.
Oversee the implementation of continuous improvement of OCC's QEHS management system, ensuring it remains robust, scalable and fit for purpose for all projects.
Provide senior level guidance to site teams and project managers, supporting them to embed a proactive safety culture and meet H&S performance targets.
Conduct regular site audits to ensure the highest health and safety standards are maintained, with follow-ups to resolve any issues immediately.
Mentor and coach H&S personnel and project teams, building capability across the organisation through knowledge sharing and targeted upskilling.
Ensure that appropriate training frameworks and certification processes are maintained, updated, and integrated into workforce planning.
Contribute to leadership meetings, reporting on H&S metrics, legal compliance, audit outcomes and strategic risk.
Qualifications, skills & experience
5+ years in similar position, preferably with a main contractor.
Degree (L8 or higher) in H&S or related field.
Excellent knowledge of Irish Construction safety legislation, regulations and standards.
Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
Proficiency in MS office & digital management tools.
Full clean Irish Driving licence required.
