We provide direct, frontline services to people aged 60 and over, including support coordination, support and befriending, housing with support, and assistive technology. We have a network of staff and more than 5,000 volunteers nationwide. We are recruiting a Head of Services.
As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Head of Services will lead three Regional Heads of Services and their teams to deliver impactful results and meet operational KPIs across the country. The role focuses on operational excellence, performance management, and ensuring consistency in service delivery aligned with ALONE’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.
The role primarily involves executing strategic goals by overseeing delivery plans, workflows, resourcing, and KPIs to ensure impact is measurable and visible. The Head of Services will report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities
1. Deliver ALONE’s service model focusing on services to older people.
2. Oversee performance of Regional Heads of Services and teams nationwide to ensure consistent service delivery.
3. Collaborate with other department heads (Operations, Finance, HR, Communications) to support sustainable service delivery aligned with organizational objectives, including workforce planning, budgeting, and internal communications.
4. Foster a high-performance culture emphasizing measurable outcomes, accountability, and responsiveness.
5. Ensure 100% on-time service delivery, productivity improvements, and high quality standards.
6. Utilize data and KPIs to monitor, manage, and improve performance and impact.
7. Lead and mentor the national services team, promoting a values-driven culture.
8. Implement the People Strategy in collaboration with HR.
9. Align service delivery with HSE standards for timely and integrated support.
10. Use the Quality Management System to ensure equality for service users.
11. Incorporate learning from research and evaluation into service delivery.
12. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, policy, and legislative requirements.
13. Drive adoption of new technologies and service innovations.
14. Integrate volunteers into services with proper training and support.
15. Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders for impactful services.
16. Represent ALONE at regional and national events related to aging and older people.
17. Support ALONE’s Campaigns for Change.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills & Experience
1. Minimum 5+ years in a senior operational leadership role in a fast-paced environment.
2. Proven ability to lead large, dispersed teams and ensure performance through KPIs and data.
3. Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating across departments.
4. Experience managing multi-site organizations and coordinating regional efforts.
5. Strong commercial and operational acumen for budgeting, resource planning, and strategic alignment.
6. Ability to translate strategic goals into measurable outcomes.
7. Experience managing budgets, resources, and compliance within regulated environments.
8. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
9. Passion for the needs of older people.
10. Full clean driver’s license and own car for travel.

* Salary negotiable based on experience.
* 35-hour work week (core hours 9-5).
