Field Service Engineer - Bioprocess Remote Cork

What You’ll Do

Plan and coordinate activities related to installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties.
Provide advice on the use and care of instruments to customers, maintaining a high level of technical and customer management skill.
Maintain ongoing communication with other company staff and ensure adequate liaison with and support for the Sales team.
Plan and organize preventive maintenance visits.
Promptly complete and return relevant paperwork (and electronic evidence) associated with service visits and installations.
Attend and assist in the organization of training courses, meetings and seminars.
Provide assistance and advice to the Field Service and Regional Service Manager on matters relevant to the Company’s area of business.
Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with other field service staff and the Sales force to ensure customer needs are understood and met.
Maintain stocks of usable spares, regularly reviewing the stock to optimize stock holding in keeping with instruments serviced.
Ensure that tools and test equipment supplied by the Company are maintained in good and fully functional condition.
Maintain an up‑to‑date awareness of changes to instruments and the wider aspects of technology.
Complete allocated jobs in the shortest practical time, retaining ownership to see through to completion where work cannot be finished promptly.
Seek opportunities to expand the after‑sales support business.
Actively sell Service Agreements and products, seeking opportunities for future business.
Comply with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policy, laws, rules and procedures, and complete all EHS training within agreed deadlines.
Be 100% customer facing; tasks can be carried out from the field via the mobile tools provided. Subject to progression, participation in the remote diagnostics/fix program (representing about 20% of the working week) may be required.

Experience

Demonstrated aptitude for rapid, parallel and repeatable execution of defined maintenance tasks to an aggressive timetable.
Highly organized with clear focus on Key Business Objectives (KBOs).
Driven to eliminate waste and pursue continual small improvements in areas under local control.
Pedantic in action, precise in documentation, and approachable in demeanor.
Resilient when faced with internal and external customer demands and flexible enough to recognize when concessions are necessary.

Required Skills

Knowledge of life sciences or service business and customer base.
Experience with relevant instrumentation/technology.
Extensive experience in laboratory or manufacturing environments.
Computer skills including hardware & software (including MS Office).
Excellent communication skills for customer service and the expansion of Service products including support agreements.
Effective organizational and administrative skills.
Current driving licence.
Ability to deal professionally with people at all levels of the organization.
Comfortable working in a clean room environment.
Ability to demonstrate aptitude for a field‑based technical role through activity‑based examples.
In‑house and external training will be provided.

Desired Skills

Experience working remotely in the Cork area.
Appropriate engineering or scientific education.
Basic computer networking skills.
Experience in a service support role in a similar industry.
Scientific or engineering related qualification.
Knowledge of networking/SQL database.
