Operational Events Manager
Slane Castle Estate, Co. Meath
Slane Castle is one of Ireland's most iconic heritage and live event venues, hosting internationally renowned concerts, festivals, weddings as well as private and corporate events. We are seeking an exceptional Operational Events Manager to lead the on-site delivery of events across the Estate.
This is a hands-on leadership role at the heart of one of Ireland's most dynamic event operations.
The Role
The Operational Events Manager is responsible for turning plans into reality. You will lead the physical and people-driven delivery of events, ensuring that every concert, wedding, festival, corporate or private event is safe, well-run, professionally delivered and financially controlled.
Working closely with our Sales, Hospitality and Site teams as well as 3rd party promoter and production teams, you will own the operational execution from load-in through to load-out.
This role suits someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has experience with running live music events and who loves being in the thick of it on the day, and knows how to lead teams under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations
* Lead the full operational delivery of all events on site including live music in the Courtyard, small festivals, weddings, private and corporate events
* Produce and manage detailed event operations plans, site plans and schedules
* Coordinate load-in, build, show days and de-rig across multiple venues
* Liaise with all third party promoters running events on the Estate, report findings, discuss actions and consult on key decisions with senior management.
* Act as the on-site lead during large events, resolving issues in real time
People & Team Leadership
* Manage event co-ordinators and supervisors, on-site teams or external contractors
* Ensure teams are properly briefed, trained and supported
* Create clear chains of command and communication prior to and on event days
* Maintain professional standards, health & safety and performance expectations
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with all licensing, fire safety, crowd safety and event safety plans
* Book and administer event team training in manual handling, first aid, silver service and other competencies
* Work with Gardaí, security, medics, fire officers and local authorities
* Conduct risk assessments, method statements and safety briefings
* Maintain incident logs and post-event reporting
Site & Infrastructure
* Oversee temporary structures, staging, marquees, fencing, power, water, waste and traffic flow
* Protect the heritage site, grounds and infrastructure
* Coordinate cleaning, waste, recycling and restoration after events
Commercial & Cost Control
* Control event-day labour, suppliers and operational spend
* Approve overtime, call-ins and contractor hours
* Support post-event financial reconciliation and reporting
Planning & Continuous Improvement
* Attend event planning meetings with Sales, Production and Management
* Carry out post-event debriefs and implement improvements
* Develop standard operating procedures for recurring events
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Proven experience managing live events, festivals or venue operations
* Strong leadership and people-management skills
* Excellent understanding of event health & safety, crowd management and compliance
* Competence in Microsoft Office as well as Hospitality and Event Booking Systems
* Calm, decisive and solutions-focused under pressure
* Flexible availability including some nights, weekends and peak event periods
* Experience in building and training dynamic event teams
Desirable
* Experience working on heritage or outdoor sites
* Knowledge of Irish licensing, event safety and local authority processes
* Knowledge of CRMs, CAD and other event planning software
* Background in concerts, festivals or large hospitality operations
