Overview
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will be part of the SLT within a leading chemical manufacturing plant and is responsible for leading, developing, and maintaining a strong culture of health, safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance at the Cork manufacturing site.
This role ensures that all Site operations comply with Irish Health & Safety Law, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the General Application Regulations 2007–2023, which set out employer duties such as conducting risk assessments, preparing the safety statement, maintaining safe systems of work, providing employee training, and ensuring safe workplaces.
The role also ensures compliance with all relevant Environmental Protection regulations and licensing.
It demands a strong "hands on" approach, with the HSE Manager providing strategic leadership, technical expertise, and operational guidance to ensure the site protects people, the environment, assets, and reputation.

Experience
Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
Minimum 10 years' experience in Manufacturing or EHS roles, including leadership responsibilities.
Strong influencing skills with the ability to engage employees and leaders at all levels.
Deep understanding of Irish health & safety legislation, including employer duties to maintain a safe workplace, provide training, conduct risk assessments, prepare safety statements, and maintain safe systems of work.
Strong knowledge of environmental obligations and ISO 14001 & 45001 requirements.
Knowledge of ISO50001 is an advantage.
Ability to interpret and apply Irish regulatory requirements pragmatically.
Experience with digital EHS management tools.
