The Irish Language Education Specialist role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of Irish-medium and Gaeltacht education, as well as applied linguistics. The successful candidate will be an advocate for the Irish language within Irish education and society, with a strong understanding of the Council of Europe Framework of Reference for Languages and European and national policy regarding the Irish language.
The postholder will teach and supervise on the Irish language education programmes in the School, including the supervision of postgraduate student research. They will undertake research, knowledge generation, and dissemination in the field of Irish language education, utilizing their expertise to address challenges such as changing demographics nationally, the supply and retention of teachers, and the provision of opportunities to develop educators' practice.

Requirements:
* Specialist knowledge in immersion and Gaeltacht education and/or applied linguistics
* Strong understanding of the Council of Europe Framework of Reference for Languages and European and national policy regarding the Irish language
* Excellent teaching and research skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
