Job Title: Architect and Building Compliance Specialist
Role Description
AZOROM has an ongoing contract with ESB and wishes to fill this present position.
The
Civil Environmental & Renewable Engineering Group
within Engineering and Major Projects provides a full range of planning, design, construction and maintenance services required for delivery of structures and infrastructure on electricity industry projects which includes a large portfolio of Networks Transmission and Distribution Projects, New Technology Flexible Generation Thermal Projects, Replanting Thermal Generation Projects and Renewable Generation Projects consisting of OnShore Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage, Hydrogen and Offshore Wind.
The senior architect and building compliance specialist will be part of a diverse team of professionals and will be responsible for the delivery of architectural services from feasibility through construction stage of electricity infrastructure projects for ESB. The role involves the provision of relevant architectural services for both new developments and the maintenance and refurbishment of existing assets. The architect will also provide technical advice and support to ensure building compliance for the business in the development of new assets and continued operation of existing assets.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Lead the Architectural design function for assigned projects
* Promote and take ownership for the safety and quality management culture on assigned projects.
* Identify and engage with internal and external stakeholders to accurately define project scope, programme requirements and available budget.
* Coordination of external consultants during the design and construction phases of assigned projects.
* Contract administration during the construction phase of assigned projects.
* Develop and manage project implementation plans covering key aspects of scope, programme and cost.
* Ensure compliance with requirements and procedures in respect of Planning, Fire Safety, Safety & Health and other enactments.
* Ensure that information is managed and maintained appropriately and consistent with ESB procedures.
* Provide specialist technical advice and expertise to project teams on architectural matters such as:
* Feasibility & Design Implementation
* Contract Management
* Building Control Compliance
* Sustainable Design in line with industry best practice
* Fulfil the duties of Design Certifier and/or Assigned Certifier under the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations.
* Manage consultants, review technical reports and progress solutions to technical issues that arise.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
The successful candidate will have: -
* Minimum of 5 years experience as a consultant architect, and a project portfolio demonstrating strong design skills.
* Comprehensive understanding of relevant Irish regulations, legislation, policy and guidance.
* Demonstrate good design awareness relating to project type and constraints of commercial viability, budget and procurement path.
* Demonstrable experience in the successful delivery of large, complex architectural projects, including Design Team leadership involving direction of in-house and external design team consultants.
* Demonstrable experience in Contract Administration, and knowledge of the regulatory framework of Planning, Building Control and general regulations relevant to architectural projects.
* Demonstrable competence and experience in safety management, including the role of Project Supervisor Design Phase (PSDP).
* Ability to undertake appropriate investigation for the preparation of the design brief for a project.
* Ability to analyse and interpret the customer needs and requirements and contribute to the production of an appropriate project brief and to critically review a brief prepared by others.
* Demonstrate ability to conduct efficient decision making and problem solving in collaboration with other key internal stakeholders.
* The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
* Fulfil the duties of Design Certifier and/or Assigned Certifier under the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable
* Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and REVIT will be an advantage
Qualifications
Essential
* NFQ Level 8 Degree in Architecture or a related discipline, or equivalent recognised qualification.
* Registered Architect status, in accordance with Section of the Building Control Act 2007
Base Location
This role will be based in ESB's EMP offices at One Dublin Airport Central, Dublin Airport, Co. Dublin, K67 XF72
Hybrid working will be a feature of this role, combining remote working with attendance at base for in-person collaboration 1-2 days per week, subject to ongoing review.
Flexibility to travel to project locations in support of business development will be a feature of the role.
