The Northstar Family Support Project is a community-based organisation providing non-judgemental, compassionate support to families who are impacted by, and trying to cope with, a family member's drug or alcohol use.
Overall purpose of the Role:
The role of the Family Support worker is to support and work in close collaboration with the Project Coordinator to implement the organisations' aims and objectives as specified in the work plan. The work is centred on people, over 18 living in county limerick who are affected by a loved one's drug or alcohol use. The worker will take an outreach approach, providing support from several key locations throughout the county. The Worker will be tasked with the development and implementation of programmes and activities that will benefit people attending the service. The worker will work in collaboration with other services and networks throughout the county.
Key Areas of Work:
Family Support
· Provide support and information to individuals living in the county via one-to-one and group work
· Develop and deliver appropriate Family Support Interventions
· Plan, implement and evaluate projects and programmes.
· Work in partnership with other organisations for the delivery of meaningful interventions including education and pro social activities that enhance a persons wellbeing
· Create awareness of issues arising for families effected by substance abuse in the county.
· Support individuals to access additional supports and services.
· To assess the changing needs of people presenting for support.
Teamwork, Planning, and Information Sharing
· Meet with Coordinator as required for planning/reporting.
· Work with the Coordinator to identify, develop and promote Policy and Procedures.
· Organise and facilitate training for community and professional groups in the area of substance abuse.
· Work in partnership with local agencies to ensure an integrated approach.
· Liaise with relevant agencies at local and national level in the voluntary and statutory sector.
Administration
· Draw up workplan and ensure that all targets and work schedules are adhered to.
· Input all interactions with participants and other agencies on Salesforce
· Record all timesheets on HR locker
· Write up relevant reports to funding agencies.
· Advertise services to ensure Communities are aware of supports available.
Training
· The Family Support Worker will participate in appropriate Training and Development that the Manager deems suitable.
General
· Undertake other relevant duties as requested from time to time by the coordinator.
· This position may require some evening and weekend work depending on the needs of the people engaging with the service
