Join as the General Counsel's first legal hire, directly influencing business growth. This role involves assisting the legal team in managing legal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping to structure the commercial deals that drive our growth. Some travel to the UK head office will be required.
The Role:
Under the management of the General Counsel, you will advise the CEO and CFO on risk and litigation matters, ensuring court readiness. Candidates must have a commercial, pragmatic approach and strong organisational skills are essential. You will manage a varied deal-flow, liaise with the internal team and external solicitors, and report to the GC and Directors on commercial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
* Legal Documentation: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing loan documents and other legal agreements.
* Compliance: Support the Head of Legal & Compliance in ensuring we meet all relevant legal and regulatory requirements related to lending, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.
* Research: Conduct legal research and provide summaries on various legal issues and regulatory changes.
* Reporting: Assist in preparing reports for both internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
* Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the legal team, such as maintaining legal files and records.
Requirements:
* A qualified solicitor with a current practicing certificate in Ireland. A UK qualification is a plus but not essential.
* At least 2yrs PQE, ideally with an in-house background or in commercial law, real estate, or finance.
* Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* A strong interest in the financial services industry, regulatory compliance, and law.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
