Company: Ei Electronics Location: Shannon, Co. Clare Department: Manufacturing / Engineering Reports to: Chief Operation Officer Role Purpose The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead the Manufacturing Engineering function with primary responsibility for: New Product Introduction (NPI) Plant Automation strategy and implementation Facilities and infrastructure support Technical support for high-volume production The role ensures new products are successfully industrialized, automation is strategically deployed to enhance competitiveness, facilities infrastructure supports operational growth, and production lines receive robust technical leadership and support. This is a key leadership role in sustaining Ei Electronics' world-class manufacturing standards in safety-critical electronic products. Key Responsibilities 1. New Product Introduction (NPI) - Strategic Priority Lead Manufacturing Engineering involvement from early design phase through pilot builds and full production ramp. Ensure strong Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) input into R&D projects. Develop scalable, robust manufacturing processes for new products. Lead PFMEA, process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ where appropriate), and control plan development. Ensure structured handover from NPI to sustaining production. Manage new SKU's and documentation delivery Deliver NPI projects on time, within budget, and to target yield and cost metrics. 2. Automation Strategy & Deployment Work with the Automation Team to develop and execute a multi-year automation roadmap aligned with business growth and cost objectives. Help Identify opportunities for: Manufacturing automation Test automation Material handling automation Ensure automation solutions are reliable, maintainable, and scalable. Drive reduction in manual operations while improving quality and repeatability. 3. Facilities & Infrastructure Leadership Provide engineering leadership for manufacturing facilities and infrastructure development. Support capacity expansion planning Ensure facilities support production reliability and future scalability. Partner with Maintenance and EHS to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Support layout redesign and space optimization projects aligned with growth. 4. Technical Support for Production Provide senior technical leadership to resolve complex production issues. Ensure rapid and structured response to technical escalations. Work with Line & Test Maintenance teams to drive improvements in technology Develop engineering capability to support high-volume, high-reliability manufacturing. 5. Leadership & Team Development Build and lead a high-performing Manufacturing Engineering team. Develop expertise in NPI, automation, facilities engineering, and production support. Define clear roles and responsibilities across engineering disciplines. Ensure strong collaboration with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations. Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Successful NPI launches (on-time, on-cost, target yield) Automation ROI and Labour productivity improvements OEE improvement Facilities readiness for growth and expansion Manufacturing Engineering project delivery performance Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electronic, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering. 7-10 years' experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing. 3-5+ years in an engineering leadership role. Proven track record in: NPI industrialization Automation project delivery Manufacturing line development Facilities or infrastructure projects Strong experience in structured problem-solving within production environments. Key Competencies Strategic thinker with strong execution capability. Strong technical depth in electronics manufacturing processes. Experience managing capital projects and equipment procurement. Financial awareness (CapEx justification, ROI analysis). Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration. Data-driven decision-making capability. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Personal Attributes Proactive and forward-thinking. Strong ownership mentality. Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels.
