About the role of Engine Room Artificer:
* Maintain, repair, and ensure efficient operation of ship propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary machinery.
* Require technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure at sea.
* Ensure operational readiness and safety, supporting maritime security and defence missions.
* Conduct planned maintenance and rectify defects in propulsion, electrical, and fluid systems.
* Diagnose faults and troubleshoot to maintain continuous operation.
* Assist in emergency responses like firefighting and damage control.
* Work closely with engineering teams to ensure efficiency and safety, maintaining accurate maintenance records.
Applicants must meet the following at application time:
* Citizenship: Irish citizen or legal entitlement to reside and work in Ireland.
* Character and Security: Good character and security clearance.
* Medical and Physical Fitness: Meet minimum standards assessed during recruitment.
Age Requirements: 18 to under 39 years old at application time.
* Professional Qualifications: Must have completed one of the following:
* HETAC Level 7 Degree in Marine Engineering
* HETAC Level 7 Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* FAS/Solas Craft in Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting
* FAS/Solas Craft in Diesel Fitting
* FAS/Solas Craft in Motor Mechanics
* EOOW Certificate of Competency
* National equivalent qualifications
Recruitment Process: Includes fitness testing, competency interview, medical assessment, and Garda Vetting.
Pay and Allowances: Basic salary of €49,000 plus yearly increments, with an additional approx. €20,000 per annum in allowances, starting at €15,000 tax-free for overseas service.
