The Firm
RBK is an established and reputable Firm of Chartered Accountants, experienced in delivering quality audit, tax and business services to a large client base in the mid to large corporate market, from offices in Dublin, Athlone and Roscommon.
Location:
Hybrid – Remote with two days a week based in our Athlone Office.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Outsourced Accountant/experienced bookkeeper to manage the preparation of monthly management accounts and VAT returns for our portfolio of clients, ranging from small indigenous companies to larger international subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently to deliver accurate and timely financial reports in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monthly Management Accounts:
* Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and corresponding lead schedules.
* Ensure all financial records are accurate and up to date.
* Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
2. VAT Returns:
* Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns (VAT3s, RTDs & VIES) in compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
* Ensure timely filing of VAT returns to avoid penalties and interest.
* Reconcile VAT accounts and resolve discrepancies.
3. General Accounting Duties:
* Manage the online accounting packages dataset and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
* Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
* Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
* Liaise with internal/external auditors and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
* RCT experience is also an advantage but not a necessity.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
* Work closely with clients internal teams to gather necessary financial information.
* Communicate effectively with our clients to explain financial matters and respond to inquiries that they may have.
* Work closely and collaborate with our excellent Outsourced Accounting Team in RBK.
* Provide training and support to clients/staff on accounting systems and processes as needed.
* A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a bookkeeping role.
* Proven experience in preparing management accounts and VAT returns.
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, Chartered Accountants Ireland, and Accounting Technician) is desirable but not essential if you have adequate experience.
* Previous Practice experience is also desirable.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks online, Xero, DEXT, Autoentry, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
