Headquartered in Tralee, Co. Kerry, we operate multiple manufacturing facilities in the southwest of Ireland, including Listowel, Charleville, Newmarket, and Farranfore. In Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom, our presence extends to key locations in Portadown, Coleraine, and Ossett.

About the role


We are seeking a capable and eager IT Support Specialist to join our team in Tralee, Co Kerry (or Charleville) on a 12 month fixed term contract. This role involves maintaining and improving our company's IT systems, providing technical assistance to employees, and contributing to software development projects. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, resourceful, detail-oriented, and responsive.


Key responsibilities


As a IT Support Specialist, you will perform a range of tasks related to both software development and system support. You will report to the ICT manager. Your daily duties and responsibilities will include

Responding to IT Issues

* Provide support to our primary Oracle Forms based system as well as several other systems.
* Assist with the analysis, design, implementation and testing of a new ERP system.
* Address hardware maintenance, software, networking, and other technical issues.
* Be the first point of contact for employees experiencing technical difficulties.
* Ability to work independently diagnosing and solving problems.

User Assistance

* Guide users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
* Conduct IT training for new employees.
* Work closely with other units within the Agri business to uphold ongoing business operations.

Upgrades and Maintenance

* Organise and schedule upgrades and maintenance with minimal disruption for our users.
* Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes.
* Keep track of hardware and software inventories.
* Ensuring operational tasks are all monitored and executed on time.
* Software Development
* Adhere to the standard of our Software Development strategy to help us achieve top quality software deliveries.
* Carry out software development projects to improve the services offered to our staff and customers.


Qualifications and skills


Good communication skills. In a busy dynamic environment clear communications are essential for smooth and effective operations to function.

* Ability to have a good relationship and work closely with multiple third party vendors.
* Effectively able to juggle multiple issues at the same time.
* Attention to detail. Details matter.
* Ability to learn and absorb information at a rapid pace.
* Excellent note taking skills because records of all agreements made and solutions implemented must be recorded.
* Carrying out all necessary documentation and protocols as set out by our internal processes.

Qualifications

We are open to hiring to right person and not focussed on experience levels. So this role is open to anyone from a new graduate up to very senior IT professionals

To excel in this role, you should have

* A recognised qualification in an IT/engineering/Science discipline.
* Good understanding of computer systems and networks.
* Ability and experience writing software (PLSQL, Linux shell scripting, html desirable).
* Understanding of relational databases more specifically Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Maria DB.
* Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
* Any experience with requirements gathering, design, testing, mentoring, managing and training others would be a bonus.
