Job Summary
The Site Supervisor – P-Way is responsible for overseeing and executing all field-level activities related to Permanent Way (track) works. This includes ensuring that track laying, alignment, welding, tamping, and other rail infrastructure components are executed as per approved drawings, technical specifications, and safety standards. The role demands close coordination with contractors, engineers, and quality teams to ensure timely and quality completion of track-related works.
Roles And Responsibilities
Supervise day-to-day P-Way site operations including rail laying, sleeper installation, ballast spreading, alignment, and track welding.
Monitor and ensure implementation of safety practices and quality standards during all track activities.
Read and interpret construction drawings and ensure execution as per approved design.
Coordinate with survey teams for alignment and level setting.
Liaise with contractors and vendors for manpower, machinery, and materials.
Maintain daily site logs, work progress reports, and update project timelines.
Ensure compliance with IR (Indian Railways) and project-specific technical standards.
Support the testing and commissioning team in ensuring track readiness.
Address site-level issues promptly and escalate critical issues to the Engineer/Manager.
Assist in material reconciliation and verification of contractor bills.
Qualification & Experience
Diploma or ITI in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
5–13 years of experience in Railway/P-Way track construction and maintenance projects.
Working knowledge of P-Way activities and tools.
Familiarity with Indian Railway standards and specifications is preferred.
Key Skills
Strong understanding of rail track components and construction methodology.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Hands-on experience in field supervision and contractor handling.
Basic knowledge of survey instruments and layout setting.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
