Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician provides essential support to the Pharmacist in the dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications, ensuring the safe, efficient, and professional delivery of pharmacy services to patients.
This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and adherence to regulatory requirements under Irish pharmacy law.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Pharmacist in dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
Prepare and label prescriptions, ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards.
Provide advice to patients on the correct use of medicines and over-the-counter products within the scope of practice.
Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation.
Manage stock control, including ordering, receiving, and rotation of stock to minimize wastage.
Assist with health promotion and public health initiatives as directed by the Pharmacist.
Ensure compliance with Medicinal Products (Prescription and Control of Supply) Regulations, Misuse of Drugs Regulations, and other relevant legislation.
Operate the pharmacy computer system for dispensing, inventory, and record-keeping.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Support day-to-day operations, including cash handling, customer queries, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications & Experience:
Recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification.
Previous experience in a retail pharmacy setting preferred.
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
Knowledge of medicines, their uses, and potential side effects.
Understanding of pharmacy legislation and ethical practice.
Customer-focused with a professional and approachable manner.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
