Job TitleEHS Specialist – ISO 14001, Industrial Hygiene & EHS SystemsLocation:Galway, IrelandWork Pattern:Onsite, 5 days per weekContract Type:Full-time (40 hours per week)Role OverviewThe EHS Specialist will support the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role has a strong focus onISO 14001:2015 implementation,Industrial Hygiene, andEHS data and software management.Acting as a subject matter expert, the EHS Specialist will provide technical guidance across the site, working closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants to ensure regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and alignment with corporate and industry standards.Key ResponsibilitiesISO 14001 & Environmental ManagementLead and support the implementation, maintenance, and sustainment of the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System in collaboration with an external vendor.Review, develop, and approve environmental documentation required for certification and ongoing compliance.Support environmental reporting and ensure timely submission of required metrics.Industrial & Occupational HygieneAct as site subject matter expert for Industrial Hygiene.Conduct Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments based on site activities.Coordinate occupational hygiene monitoring with external consultants.Support the definition and review of Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs).Chemical Safety & ManagementOversee chemical approval processes, including new chemical introductions.Maintain the site Chemical Register and ensure accurate management of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).Provide guidance on chemical safety and regulatory compliance.EHS Operations & ComplianceSupport emergency response planning and deliver risk-based training.Manage contractor safety programs, including Permit-to-Work processes.Perform site walkdowns, audits, and program reviews to verify compliance with regulatory and internal standards.Support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, including CAPA close-out.Training, Reporting & EngagementDevelop and deliver EHS training programs, including Chemical Awareness, Manual Handling, EHS Induction, Contractor Safety, and Permit-to-Work training.Act as site SME for EHS software systems and data management, including user training.Prepare monthly EHS metrics and dashboards and present findings to site leadership.Chair and lead EHS committee meetings and support management reviews.Qualifications & ExperienceEssentialThird-level qualification in Science, Engineering, or EHS .Minimum 5 years' experience in an EHS role within a regulated manufacturing environment (MedTech, Pharma, or similar).Proven experience supporting ISO 14001 implementation and maintenance.Strong knowledge of Irish/EU EHS legislation and best practices.Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.Strong IT skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, dashboards, and KPI reporting.DesirableExperience with ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 .Manual Handling Instructor qualification.Experience with EHS software systems and data reporting platforms.Key CompetenciesStrong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.Compliance-focused with high attention to detail.Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Confident communicator with strong training and presentation skills.Collaborative, adaptable, and customer-focused.High standards of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Individual ProfileThe successful candidate will be a technically strong EHS professional with the confidence to act as a trusted advisor across the site.
