The Role
The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist will work closely with the EHS Safety Manager and other technical managers/engineers to drive improvements in existing EHS management systems, including compliance for the Cork site under the COMAH and Seveso regulations, as well as providing technical expertise as required. Responsibilities include process safety, functional safety, process safety programs (HAZOPS, LOPA, etc.), and process safety KPIs.
The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist is responsible for activities and programs to ensure compliance with ATEX, High-Risk Work programs, and local and corporate EHS process safety requirements. Support for DGSA site requirements will also be part of the role.
The EHS Engineer/Specialist will ensure compliance with the site’s ISO 45001 management system, including local and corporate EHS programs. The role involves leading interactions with regulatory bodies on compliance programs and future changes, as well as measuring and evaluating site health and safety performance to drive continuous improvement.
This role offers autonomy and ownership of assigned projects, areas, and programs, with support from an experienced EHS team.
Duties
* Lead EHS assessment and approval of all process and equipment changes in conjunction with Process Safety Protocols.
* Provide EHS support to ensure compliance with Lower Tier SEVESO and ATEX requirements.
* Guide Cork site operations to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, IE licensing, and ISO standards.
* Maintain relationships with the EHS team, operational managers, and functional managers to develop and implement EHS strategies.
* Act as an EHS business partner for core operations.
* Support digitization initiatives for EHS systems, including high-risk work and chemical management.
* Work closely with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and the local management team.
* Lead audits and inspections, compile EHS metrics and KPIs, and analyze trends for corporate and site management.
Who You Are
* Essential: Degree/Diploma in Process Safety, H&S, or a relevant engineering/science discipline.
* Desirable: Experience with COMAH and chemical management systems.
* Experience managing major infrastructural projects and contractor management in compliant operations.
* Strong background in regulatory interactions and licensing applications.
* Proven project and program management skills, with the ability to multitask in a large industry setting.
* Expertise in H&S legislation and best practices for large-scale industries.
* Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
* Ability to prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.
* Flexible, constructive problem-solving approach.
Skills
