Quantity Surveyor
Portlaoise, Co. Laois
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work as part of a team to ensure the commercial delivery of multiple projects throughout the Midlands. This role involves working closely with Senior Leadership, General Works Managers, Project Managers, and site teams to ensure effective project delivery, value optimisation, and robust risk management.
Responsibilities
Key Duties
· Assist in the development and implementation of the commercial strategy for assigned projects.
· Managing subcontract packages and overseeing payments to subcontractors, suppliers and consultants along with normal QS duties
· Manage cost control processes, including cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and forecasting across all phases of the project lifecycle.
· Manage the preparation and agreement of valuations, variations, and final accounts.
· Prepare and manage regular cost/value reports, providing updates on risk, opportunities, and overall commercial performance.
· Maintaining subcontractor and supplier contractual details.
· Ensure strict adherence to all contractual obligations and company procedures.
· Participate in estimating activities and assist with the preparation of tender submissions.
Key Attributes:
· 5-8 years Post-Graduate Demonstrated experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within civil or infrastructure projects
· An ability to achieve demanding time and quality targets.
· Good IT skills with competency with software like Autocad, Cost-ex or equivalent, Microsoft Word and Excel
· A willingness to attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
· Proficient in cost reporting and valuations,
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with strong commercial awareness and meticulous attention to detail
· Ability to effectively balance assertiveness with diplomacy when engaging with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
· Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field
· Chartered status or actively pursuing chartership (RICS, SCSI, CIOB, or equivalent)
· Knowledgeable in CVR processes
· Commitment to continuous professional development in contract law, negotiation, and emerging industry trends
