The primary role of a Geriatric Medicine Specialist is to provide high-quality medical care to older adults with complex health needs. This specialist works closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans that address the unique challenges faced by older patients.
* Conduct thorough assessments of older patients to identify their medical, social, and psychological needs.
* Develop and implement individualized care plans that take into account the patient's preferences, values, and goals.
* Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to provide holistic care.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest research and guidelines in geriatric medicine to ensure that care is evidence-based.
* Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure that care needs are met.
* MB BCh or equivalent medical qualification.
* Postgraduate qualification in Geriatric Medicine (or equivalent).
* Eligibility for registration with the relevant medical council.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
