The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will have total responsibility for all EH+S matters relating to Unilin sites in Ireland. Reporting to the Factory Manager, this role is fully based on-site and involves maintaining and developing Unilin’s in house safety system as well as head of a team ensuring compliance to Unilin’s EPA licence and ISO14001 management systems. To provide EH&S support/advice to management and employees. To actively promote a culture of EH+S and eliminate loss in the areas of injury, illness, and material damage. #insulationuk
Key Attributes
Bachelor’s degree in health & safety or a related field desirable
4+ years EHS experience within a manufacturing setting desirable
Practical focus on H&S Basics and behavioral base approach
Knowledge of Safety and Environmental Management Systems essential
Knowledge of COMAH and ATEX process desirable
Experience of dealing with HSA, EPA and IPPC license
Must be able to manage and motivate a team responsible for site EH&S systems.
Have good organizational and administrative skills
Must have good communicational skills, be self motivated with an ability to multitask
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Actively participate in the daily morning meeting to update management team on H&S issues
Responsible for implementing and supporting the H&S Management system on Unilin sites in Ireland
Proactive in developing site Zero Harm capabilities
Develop, implement and update health and safety policies & procedures
Ensure H&S legislation compliance
Conduct on-site risk assessments and review current risk assessments
Carry out induction training for new employees and employees returning to work following a prolonged absence. Maintain a comprehensive training record on each employee.
Conduct accident investigations and implement timely corrective actions
Educate and coach managers and employees on how best to improve the safety and performance of their teams
Develop, implement and update health and safety policies & procedures with Zero-Harm Manager.
Design, Plan, conduct and/or co-ordinate appropriate health and safety training programs (i.e. manual handling, first aid etc).
Maintenance of Fire Safety Register.
Update the company Safety Statement when required
Chair site safety committees
Maintain database re: chemicals & PPE.
Manage and coach direct report H&S Coordinator
Environmental monitoring and reporting.
Preparation of all environmental reports for the EA and local authorities, liaison with government bodies on an ongoing basis.
Managing waste movements in and out of facility and ensuring waste movements are in compliance with government regulations.
Liaison with operations on a daily basis to ensure site compliance.
Site assessments, internal auditing, keeping daily/weekly records.
Undertake any other tasks appropriate to the position, as requested by management
Undertake flexible working hours as may be required to meet business needs.
