Our mission at UIG is to shape the future of electric grid infrastructure across the globe through a focus on decarbonisation and resiliency. We transform the way businesses generate, deliver and use electricity. We conceive and design microgrid-based electrical systems to achieve power generation, storage and consumption objectives. Typical clients include utilities, large energy users, data centres and multi-asset energy parks.
Utility Innovation Group International Ltd. is established at the company's European Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. We are looking to grow the team in Dublin to support projects both in Europe and the US.
Overview
This role is suited to someone with a background in electrical design and schematic drafting looking to work on innovative solutions within the energy sector, on best-in-class technologies.
Summary
Primary duties are to provide accurate, efficient, repeatable, constructable and thorough designs for electrical drawings and 3D modeling using EPLAN. With input from the Systems Engineering team, the Electrical Design & CAD Engineer provides detailed design output for systems and solutions relating to battery storage applications, generators, distributed generation control systems, PLC programming, SCADA and remote monitoring, protective relay programming, networking equipment and system control architecture. Experience with EPLAN is essential.
Role Requirements
* Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics using EPLAN for power generation, battery energy storage, control systems and automation.
* Produce complete and accurate wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams and control panel layouts for both internal and external consumption.
* Create and verify the BoM (Bill of Materials) for projects, identifying long lead time items and ensuring drawing and documentation release on time to avoid project delays.
* Ensure designs meet project requirements and client specifications and review/verify electrical drawing packages prior to submittal and release.
* Maintain high standards using industry-standard tools/techniques and revision control of the drawing package up to the final as built set.
* Ability to prepare drawings from technical data, sketches and verbal descriptions with clear communication (English language) with engineers, drafters and manufacturing personnel.
* Conduct design reviews and implement revisions based on feedback from clients, engineers, and project managers.
* Provide technical input during procurement, manufacturing, and installation stages.
* Ensure compliance with quality standards and with IEC, ANSI and all other relevant standards.
Minimum Qualifications
* Degree (minimum NFQ Level 7) in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
* 3+ years of experience in electrical design, engineering, or manufacturing, ideally within industrial equipment / production industry.
* Proficiency with EPLAN software is essential.
* Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power distribution, control systems, and automation design.
* Understanding of CE marking and relevant electrical standards (IEC, BS, EN, ANSI, IS, etc.).
* Literacy in computer operating systems and applications such as MS Office Suite Products (e.g. Windows, Word, Excel).
* Availability to travel nationally and internationally is a major advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Proficient in 2D electrical and mechanical CAD software (EPlan Electric P8/Pro Panel, AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Inventor)
* Experience in low voltage (LV) systems.
* Knowledge of PLC/automation integration in electrical designs.
* Application of drafting standards, symbols and terminology used in electrical and mechanical drawings.
* Experience working on data centres would be an advantage but not essential
* An ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work and travel within EU region without any restrictions
