Offer description

Embrace provides residential support services for adults and children with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and acquired brain injuries. We are currently looking for a Behaviour Support Specialist to join our team on a full time. The Behaviour Support Specialist will form an integral part of our team, working autonomously and in collaboration with management and frontline staff to form tailor-made person-centred interventions and Positive Behaviour Support Plans. Candidates must be self-driven, focused, highly motivated, creative and experienced with a passion for engaging with our residents on a daily basis.

The Behaviour Support Specialist will report directly to our Managing Director.

Location: Based in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, the successful candidate will also be expected to travel to our community homes in the Meath / North County Dublin / Wicklow areas.

Type of Contract: Full time permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week

Key responsibilities will include:

* Conduct, lead and facilitate the implementation of comprehensive behavioural assessments in collaboration with frontline staff and family members
* Supervise, support and lead Behaviour Support Specialists as required
* Lead and facilitate the development of effective behaviour support plans and reactive strategies
* Ensure that multi-element behavioural intervention plans contain plans for monitoring
* Work alongside frontline staff to address the support and intervention requirements from agreed plans
* Empower frontline staff teams to undertake the ongoing implementation and monitoring of interventions
* Promote knowledge, understanding and skills in the principles and techniques of non-aversive behavioural support
* Work collaboratively with all members of the MDT team
* Facilitate frontline staff and families to increase the level of community inclusion
* Provide training in a range of areas that may be required in the support plan such as PBSP, Autism, Introduction to Trauma etc.
* Provide on the ground support for frontline staff and families in translating training into action
* Engage and work with frontline staff in designing safe strategies for managing challenging behaviour in line with Embrace's policies

Essential requirements

* BCBA certification or equivalent
* Honours Degree in Behavioural Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis or equivalent
* Knowledge and experience of working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries and autism spectrum disorders
* Experience in supervising, managing and supporting other Behaviour Support Sepcialists
* Minimum of 3 years experience as a Behaviour Support Specialist
* Knowledge and experience of implementing effective positive behaviour support programmes and continual development of PBS competencies
* Experience of independently completing comprehensive behavioural assessments, completing reports and the development and implementation of multi-elemental behaviour support plans
* Experience of developing and delivering training packages and workshops to frontline staff and families
* Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner using initiative and creativity
* Excellent communication, IT skills and time management skills
* Full clean driving licence and willing to travel within service locations
