 
        
        Social Care Leader, under 18s Residential Services, Grange Lodge, Dublin
The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team, within the Under 18 Residential Services, providing support and assistance to young people aged 15-18 who are out of home in a short-term residential setting. To assist the Project Leader and Assistant Project Leader in providing effective leadership and supervision to the team.
What You Will Do
 * To lead a residential team in adhering to the HIQA National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres.
 * To ensure placement plans for the young people are developed, followed, kept updated regularly and are in line with the young person’s care plan.
 * To work in a leadership role as part of a residential rota over 7 days a week.
 * To lead the team in providing a safe welcoming environment for young people aged 15-18 who are out of home, including provision of basic care needs such as household duties.
 * To take the lead on shift with Project Workers, and to ensure that the staff team with whom you are on duty carry out allocated tasks in a competent and professional manner.
 * To oversee that daily logs, case notes and other information is recorded as required by the National Standards for Children in Residential Services.
 * To be responsible for conducting the performance appraisals and for monitoring the performance of the staff being supervised by him/her.
What You Will Need
 * Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application will be necessary)
 * A minimum of 2 years full-time work experience in a children’s residential setting.
 * A working knowledge of the impact of childhood adversity on adolescents
 * A working knowledge and awareness of HIQA National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres.
 * Ability to manage and support teenagers in crisis who present with challenging behaviours.
 * A high standard of written communication
 * A working knowledge and understanding of Child Protection, and responses to concerns. (Desirable)
 * A working knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model.(Desirable)
 * Teamwork and team support. (Desirable)
