In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. This role will be key in achieving our strategic market and client ambitions. We are seeking to hire a Business Development manager to join our team in Ireland.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for working with client facing market and business leaders to drive business growth. This will be achieved through application of sound business development principles and strategic client relationship management. This role will drive business development process to ensure high-quality, actionable data and informed decision-making for business growth.
The role reports to the MCBD lead in Ireland and will work closely with business and market leaders.

As a Business Development Manager at Arup, you will:
Leadership and Strategy:
• Collaborates with the three Market Portfolio Leaders and the Business Executive in Ireland and with regional colleagues in Europe to champion a business partner mindset within the team.
• Develops and delivers innovative approach to long-term pursuit planning, the client programme, and knowledge management, to drive our growth and market penetration.
• Defines processes and actions for effective business development activity, including market research and insights.
• Leads the business development team in Ireland, setting its vision and work programme.
• Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, communications) to align on go-to-market strategies.
• Ensures the team’s performance aligns with Arup's integrated business plan and Arup’s values.
• Client Programme Management
• Oversees the development and delivery of the client programme in Ireland, evolving it to maximise impact.
• Conducts ongoing reviews to inform consistent client selection and segmentation, fostering a client-centered approach.
• Advises on best practices, tools, resources, and training for client-facing teams to effectively engage with clients.
• Manages relationships with external vendors and service providers.
Reporting and Analytics
• Develops sales reporting and analytics, championing data use in decision-making.
• Advises on performance analytics solutions to drive business growth.
• Oversees training programmes to enhance the understanding and use of CRM data.
Does this role inspire you?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about Business Development. We also value:
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or executive education in business management, marketing, or a related field.
• More than ten years of experience in a Professional Services background.
• Knowledge of current trends and procurement within the AEC industry.
• Experience managing account-based client programmes and collaborating with senior leaders.
• Membership of a relevant professional body is encouraged.
