Job Title: Fleet Manager
About the Position
The Fleet Technical and Compliance Manager will manage a wide range of activities related to the HGV fleet and associated ancillary equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
* Oversight of Fleet Operations & Maintenance, ensuring efficient utilisation, availability and technical upkeep of the fleet.
* Diagnosis of technical issues across the HGV fleet, escalation, accurate root-cause identification and effective resolution.
* Management of fleet telemetry and tachograph systems, including analysis, reporting and compliance follow-up.
* Delivery of daily and KPI reporting on fleet performance, driver scheduling, breakdowns and operational variances.
* Stakeholder management across the network to resolve issues and ensure smooth fleet operations nationwide.
Requirements
To be successful in this role you will require:
* At least seven years experience managing a fleet of similar scale.
* A Transport Manager Licence, Driver CPC and full C and CE licence for road-testing rigid and articulated vehicles.
* A recognised trade qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance.
* Hands-on expertise in diagnosing and repairing key HGV systems including braking, suspension, gearboxes, hydraulics and electrical/ECU components.
* Membership of a recognised professional body such as IRTE, IAEA, MSOE or CMILT would be an advantage.
* Strong capability in budget management, data-driven decision-making and the use of emerging fleet technologies.
* Strong interpersonal, coaching and communication skills.
