Lead the site’s equipment engineering and automation strategy, driving the delivery of current and next-generation manufacturing technologies. Responsible for capital project execution, equipment reliability, and the integration of tooling, stations, equipment & advanced automation systems to support operational excellence and long-term site strategy.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Lead all technical equipment engineering activities in alignment with site strategic goals, supporting both current operations area strategies and R&D programs
Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of designers, project managers & equipment engineers, fostering a high-performance and innovation-driven culture
Automation & Digital Transformation
Own and execute the site automation strategy, from concept development through to implementation and scale-up
Deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost reduction, and process reliability through automation and data integrity initiatives
Capital & Project Management
Oversee capital investment planning and execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to defined scope
Manage project and expense budgets, resource planning, and prioritisation aligned to business needs
Lead full project lifecycle delivery including concept, design, procurement, validation, and handover
Reliability & Operational Excellence
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, yield, and performance
Collaborate cross-functionally to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Mechanical & Station Design
Oversee mechanical design and station development for manufacturing processes, ensuring robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions
Drive design-for-manufacturability and standardisation across tooling and ergo station platforms
Data Integrity & Compliance
Ensure all equipment and automation systems comply with data integrity standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems
Support validation activities and ensure alignment with GMP and industry standards
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
Lead change management initiatives related to new equipment, processes, and technologies
Influence and align diverse stakeholders across engineering, operations, quality, and senior leadership
Qualifications
Education: NFQ level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline and 9+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination
Technical/Business Knowledge: Provides direction and monitors progress of exempt specialists and/or supervisory staff toward departmental goals; monitors costs of projects and resources; works in a quality system environment; ensures compliance with governmental regulations
Planning/Organisation: Creates long-range plans, budgets, forecasts departmental needs including resources and capital expenditures; recommends or modifies organisational structure with senior management approval
